Extreme world runner looking for S east Asian infoHi All this is my first posting so hopefully all goes well. In short I am an Irish extrem runner running around the world and will be in S/E Asia in about 9 months time, I believe in extensive research and preparation and this has led me to the TTF. My website is www.theworldjog.com/blog or further info on my profile.
My first questions are:
1. I plan on 2 months running through Indonesia and am aware that they only issue a non extendable 30 day visa. Perhaps a silly question but I have never seen it addressed. If I leave the country after running my first month for a Jakarta to Bangkok $70 return flight and then return to my route will it be ok with Indonesian immigration that I have left ( is there usually a minimum time to be out of a country before returning?) I will then return as mentioned and hopefully with second 30 day for Indonesia. Will this work there?
Quest 2 is similar. Re Thailands 15 day land border visa which I will be crossing from Malaysia, and as you know they issue 30 days in the airport. Well if I take a $200 return flight to say Hong Kong and return with my 30 day airport visa, 6 weeks will work for Thailand, Is there a minimum time out for Thailand and will the same plan work here.
Question 3, As mentioned in Q 2 above . taking this flight to Hong Kong. What are my chances of getting a 3 month Chinese visa in HK?
Question 4. What are my chances of getting an extension to my 3 month Chinese visa in China without leaving China, 5,000km to be run there?
Question 5. Is it possible to get a Kazakhistan visa in China and if so what are my chances of getting a 3 month visa or at least a double entry 30 day? the fact that Krygstan no longer requires a visa gives the traveller a placeto go to in this nightmare!
Question 6. Any ideas about obtaining a Russian visa in Asia? Even a 30 day might get me from Kaz to Ukraine and would suffice!
Thanking you for your advice to even one of my questions and of course your patience with this. Ta Tony :)

1The 30 day Indonesian visa on arrival can be extended for another 30 days incountry. Has been like this for a while now. Theres no length of time you need to be out of the country before returning. Singapore and Malaysia are popular places for visa runs if you need to renew a visa.
Anything to do with Indonesia belongs on SE Asia Islands and Peninsula. Same as anything to do with China--NE Asia Branch.
russian visas are extremely difficult to get outside your coubtry of residency. Do a search o9n NE Asia branch as theres some posts there about it.

2your plan as outlined by westwood for indonesia is sound as is your heading through Thailand on the 15 day land border exemtion but note that your date of entry counts also so its only 14 days in reality and then fly BKK to HK with airasia return and head into China mainland I take it from Laos sounds like you'll be running around as much for the visas as through the country, you've already tired me out, so I'm headed for a lie down after reading your proposed journey Ha! Ha! if you can't get Visa for 3mths in your homeland (valid 3 mths to time of entry) then HK or Thailand but I only got a 28days tourist visa in Thailand and flew to kumming.have a great trip

4No its not westwood I shall now explain
last year I had to wait for my 15 days as a visa was really expensive so I hung out in Vang Vieng YUUUK! an extra few days and my flight was due out from Bangkok airportaround 10p on 19th january so I deducted 15 days and re-eneterd Thailand on teh 4th january but at airport they demanded 500baht as I had overstayed 1 day, being a cheapskate I refused to pay and they finally despaired of me and to get rid of me overlooked this 1 day omission on my part, so include the day you re -enter this is now 16 days ie 4th to 18th is 15 days, reality being 14 days OK Ha! Ha! I'm off back to bed to recover the trek to and from my computer ;-))

Montyman which visa were you applying for that took so long? I am in Santa Rosa, La Pampa, Argentina at the moment. So not sure when my next internet service will be to respond after I run out of here this morning. I appreciate all your replies! 10I'm a ladess!! Plenty of info re Indonesian visas on that branch. But yes, 30 days can be extended. Dont forget LPs are printed well before release date and by that time many things can have changed. But you will always get the absolute latest here at any rate.
Read the latest posts on getting a Chinese visa in Bangkok and its not so simple any more. They now want bookings of flights, accommodation, etc before you'll get a visa.
