Trekking in Bolivia in January or February?
Hi I will be traveling in in Bolivia in January and February and would like to do some trekking if possible. I know these months are in the wet season, but this is the only time I have to explore Bolivia. Can anyone let me know what kind of kind of conditions I can expect on the following routes? Are these routes even passable at this time? I would like to try and trek in the Cordillera Quimsa Cruz between Mina Viloco and Mina Caracoles, the El Choro trek between La Cumbre and Chairo, the Yunga-Cruz trek between Chunavi and Chulumani, and the Trans-Cordillera route from Sorata to Laguna Sistana, Laguna Sistana to Huayna Potosi, and Huayna Potosi to Illimani. Thanks so much for your advice!!!1
I went for a couple of short treks in end Jan/beg Feb around Sucré a few years ago. The only problem I had was when our truck got stuck in mud on our way to trail head. Trekking itself and weatherwise wasn't a problem though, except for some light showers. You'll need waterproof poncho and shoes/boots, or you'll have to use plastic bags, as I did, inside your shoes.Transportation between places may be a problem sometimes, when roads get impassable for several days.
