Vietnam or Cambodia beaches for Christmas and NYE?
Hi all,This is my first time posting! I am off on my own on a one way ticket to Bangkok on 11th December and my initial plan is to spend a few days here to find my feet then head to either Vietnam or Cambodia for Christmas and NYE.
I want to be on a beach for Christmas Day and somewhere lively for NYE. I am also after somewhere warm as this UK weather is so depressing!
My first plan was to head from Bangkok to Saigon for few days then over to Nha Trang for Christmas and Mui Ne for NYE. But just not sure if it will be that warm. I know you can't guarantee the weather but is it more likely to be warmer in Cambodia or Northern Thailand?
I have never backpacked in my life and am really scared but also excited! I am a bit of a control freak so am worried that I need to book accom for Christmas and NYE very soon but as I am not sure of the best route it is difficult to know where to book.
Any advice would be great for this nervous newbie,

How long do you intend to spend?Remember you would need a visa for VN and Cambodia. If you are going for just a few days in each then I would say it was not worth it.

Well my rough travel plan is to go 11th Dec and then do either Vietnam or Cambodia (or both) until start of Feb.Then in Feb I was planning to do a month round Thai Islands beach bumming around. In March head down and spend a month in Indonesia then in April go to Delhi and do a month in India before flying onto Australia to hopefully stay there on a WHV for 12 months.
I am trying to work out if I can afford to add 2 weeks in Japan and 2 weeks in China into the mix and fly from India to these places before going onto Oz.
My only 'must do' is to be on a warm beach for Christmas and somewhere lively for NYE. Do you think I could switch my trip around and from Bangkok go to Indonesia? Will my chances fo it being hotter increase if I was there than in Vietnam or Cambodia?
As I am on a one way ticket I am fairly easy but these are my wish list destinations it is just a case of figuring out the order!

If you want a warm beach for Christmas, you might also consider Phu Quoc Island. In terms of somewhere lively for NYE, if your in Vietnam, Saigon will be lively for New Years. Most of the Expat bars will have something going on, as I'm sure the Pham Ngu Lau bars will (although I always avoid the PNL bars).
