Gelatinas artisiticas

I was looking for something on You Tube and blundered into gelatinas artisticas These are rather amazing gelatine presentations where colored, opaque gelatin is injected into a completely clear molded gelatin. How they are made. HOw to make a more elaborate one

Those are really, really neat!! I want a leaf shaped spoon like the woman with the more elaborate one had. That looks like fun!

Sorry, but it turned my stomach to watch that first video. Those long fingernails touching the surface of the gelatin at times, the wiping of the surface, etc. It made me think of a tattoo parlor. My opinion: Too much trouble, and maybe unsanitary to boot.

Okay, well I will admit the first one seemed a bit on the sloppy side. But it still sounds cool to me!

If I saw the finished product without having seen it being produced, I'm sure I would have liked it.

I never worked in a retaurant, but I worked in a bakery where the manager's apron was always snow white. He cleaned batters off his fingers by sucking it off, so a more or less constant sound was that popping noise of a finger or thumb coming out of his mouth. I'm not sure the heat of the ovens killed all the germs he must have put into some of our products.

I'd expect these to be decorative only -- unflavored clear gelatin wouldn't be tasty anyway. Maybe a good alternative for decoration when the weather is too hot for ice sculptures, but enough cooling is available to keep the gelatin from drooping?

I saw some other videos where only utensils touched the surface. Some use hypodermic needles. They are meant to be eaten.

In English, from the Washington Post Gelatinas, a floral wonder and growing business.

I was envisioning needing to make sure that I cut into the gelatin myself after everyone got to look at it since (if I did it right) people would say it was too pretty to eat.

"(if I did it right) people would say it was too pretty to eat."

Spent some time with a noted custom cake maker the other day and she was saying that while adults might think something that looked fabulous was too pretty to eat kids couldn't wait to chomp it down!

As to the gelatin art I really am amazed and look @ how popular it is-there'll be 300,000 hits on the first video in no time!

very pretty! but what exactly does one do with unflavored gelatin injected with food coloring? doesn't seem appetizing at all.

maybe one could make dyes from berries, maybe add white grape juice to the transparent base.

Definitely for eating, from all that I looked at. For instance, the Post article says:
The ones Gamboa sells seem to be tuned to a Latino palate that likes very sweet desserts. But customers can special-order from Canela Bakery and specify the flavor and level of sugar, or sugar substitute.

They describe the injected stuff as "colored mixtures of gelatin and sweetened condensed milk."

A San Francisco company describes them
Our handcrafted Creative Gelatin Desserts are made from clear gelatin, milk gelatin, pure cane sugar, food coloring, fresh fruits (seasonal fruits), and exotic flowers design and premium liqueurs of your choice.
They'll even do custom designs, like corporate logos. Or, a wedding cake entirely made of gelatin.
