How long does it take a train ride from Quetta to Lahore now?

Hi,

I'm here in Quetta and I want to go to Lahore but it seems it's not that easy.
The police said that I can't leave the city by bus without NOC.
But the Home Department said they won't give me NOC. There was also an Italian guy who wanted to travel to Taftan but he was told the same.

I have 2 options now.
  • travel by plane: too expensive and I have to wait here for 4 days
  • travel by train: they said to me that it will take 2 days to get to Lahore because of the floods

Do you know anything about the train routes between Quetta and Lahore?

How can I get the NOC? I've been at the Home Department two times before without any success.

Thanks!

The best option is train. It takes two days to reach Lahore, the floods are over now so perhaps it may reach sooner.

Cheers

If you do take the train, bring plenty of water and something to eat, also blanket, as nights are cold.

Hi interesting information, can any of you tell me what an NOC is??

Also I was just about to post a new topic but maybe someone here can tell me.

I will be travelling across pakistan from iran to india. I am attempting to go all the way round the world without using any planes.

Should I be honest about my plans or should I say that I will book a return flight to Pakistan saying that I will book the flight after I have the visa?

I have heard that I NEED to prove that I am leaving the country??? Is that right?

Thanks for any help.

NOC means "No Objection Certificate". It is issued in Pakistan to foreigners for areas that have travel restrictions on them. For example Swat and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

I certainly wouldn't mention overland, tell them you're visiting Lahore before going to Waggah for the border ceremony and then travelling on into India.

@ 3,
You don't need any prove/plan ticket saying that you 'd leave country.

mrburwin - you will need to apply for the visa for Pakistan in your country of residence. If you're already on the road, it's too late to get one now.

You will need to submit an itinerary with your application, which will of course include the points of entry of departure -- whether by land or air. Given your plans, you should consider submitting an itinerary that is nothing like your actual route.

Bonjour from Islamabad,

22 to 24 hrs, train from Quetta to Lahore .

You'd need an exit stamp, the port where from you'd leave the country.

Ciao,
