Recent Experience Applying China Visa TashkentHello -
I am a US Citizen and my wife is a New Zealand Citizen. We are considering applying for in China Tourist Visas in Tashkent between 10 Sept 2012 - 18 Sept 2012.
Has anyone had recent experience, e.g. late July / early August 2012 applying in Tashkent? Are LOIs required? Good experience or bad experience? Visas issued in 3-5 days or longer? Possible to pay extra to expedite process? Is a tourist agency necessary to assist with application?
Our fallback is Bishkek, but wonder if Tashkent is a viable option, too.

1I got mine in June 2011. I paid little bit more and got it in the same day. I think I paid $80 for one entry. If you want to wait, I think the normal process time is 5 days. Make sure you bring US dollar bill that has no marking. Bring new bill. You donot need to go through a travel agency. When I went there, only a handful of people waited outside. If you get US dollars from Uzbekistan banks, make sure there is no mark on the bills otherewise no one want your bill and you can not change them back from the bank.

3I am Canadian. I went with other two people from Switzerland and they also have not problem getting the visa. I think I got my visa within half hour. It is very easy.
