American trying to get DRC visa. Letter of Invitation?
Will be going to africa next year when my vacation unfreezes and one of the stops I want to make is Kinshasa for a few days. I am an American travelling solo and will be taking all the proper precautions. However I'm running into a snag just looking at the visa requirements. Seems i need a letter of invitation from a Congolese sponsor. I imagine this is going to be quite the hurdle as I don't know anyone in Africa, let alone the DRC. Has anyone ever used thorntree to get a letter from a fellow user? If not, what are my possible options? I will probably being flying from Kigali, Kampala, or Addis Abba if that helps. Is bribing even an option if I meet every other requirement and have a hotel booked? Or can the hotel provide the letter?3
I went through the same problem. I just received a letter of invitation today. I will be traveling to Goma in February. In order to get a DRC visa, one must have a certified letter of invitation attached to the visa request. (at least from the USA) Anyway, I plan to stay at the hotel Ihusi in Goma. Upon confirmed reservation, they sent me a certified (electronic via e mail) letter of invitation. They were very helpful. I hope they can help you.ADVERTISEMENT
