Just to be clear, I won't be studying while I'm in the US.I have already been looking at accommodation and employment. I just want get a feel from people who may know a little more than I do.
I have pretty well researched everything.
I find it useful to hear from other people's experiences and perspectives.

I have just always wanted to move there since I was little. I think I'm fascinated by the number of people who talk trash about it, I want to see for myself. Everyone says not to go there and it just makes me want to go there more.Besides I love the beach and year round warm weather and I drive everywhere where I live in Aus so It won't be any different.
Regarding the Fukushima blues comments, I have looked this up (google/YouTube) but I'm struggling to see how it's relevant?
