Sell my bike in Iran

Hello all,

I'm planning trip on my bicycle to Iran in December. Then I will continue to India and Australia, and I'm thinking of alternative to sell bike+ trailer in Iran (or east Turkey). I have Focus Super bud 1.0 , hydraulic disc brakes, fork, full-suspension. Do you think that is possible? I mean If not problem to repair, get new parts etc..
I wanted to go through Pakistan, but embassy for visa need a flight ticket..

Thank you for advices.

Iran is currently going through a hyperinflation (60% inflation per month) imposed by the western banking cartel via a trade embargo as a way to 1) dethrone Ahmadinejad, and 2) provide an excuse for the soon-to-be-skyrocketing oil prices resulting from Europe's, the US's and Japan's unlimited-money-printing-to-infinity policies, plus the current reality of peak Oil. Expect fireworks after the US election.

There will likely soon be some kind of revolution which will make the country less safe, and only accept dollars, gold or silver as payment.

....dollars, gold, silver or bikes(?) as payment?

From what I read money, particularly foriegn money, is in short supply in Iran at the moment and is more likely to be used for buying food or smuggling abroad. Unless someone sees your bike as a hedge against inflation, selling it is probably not going to be so easy.

Also beware of restrictions on carrying foriegn cash out of the country. It would be a shame to sell the bike, then have proceeds confiscated.

The amount of money you are talking about would not be a problem to take out.
It is possible to sell that bike for USD in Iran. In different areas there are different emphases. Around the Sth Caspian and around Marand -Tabriz for example there are strong road scenes. Around Arak, an industrial city of 1M, there is a strong MTB scene. And they have good bikes. You'd need to be there to locate such an opportunity though and then you still need to be lucky on the day that someone wants it.

I think it is unfortunate to read predictions above of revolution in Iran and I'd like to counter that. Ahmadinejad only has till next June. He can't run a third time. The Persians are not prone to violence at all. Not a a street level. At a national level when you see their history in the 40's and 50's and their current perspective it is not surprising what some opportunistic leaders say.

What we really need to fear is that they would interupt oil passage through the Hormuz of Hormuz. They would have control of the world oil price for some time.
