"Lonely This Christmas" Anyone else going to be in NYC?Hi all,
I'm going to be doing a bit of backpacking in the States just before Christmas and am heading to NYC on 24th December where I'll remain till 1st January!!
I was just wondering if anyone one else is planning on being there over this period? It's going to be my first ever Christmas abroad travelling solo, so thought it would be a good idea to try and find some people to meet up with in the same boat before I get over there!! Is anyone else going to be in The Big Apple over the Christmas period??
Absolutely can not wait, going to be incredible!!!

1If you book into a larger hostel there will be dozens of other Xmas orphans and waifs to share good times with. Or perhaps do some research and find a charity or community organisation that will be cooking free meals for people doing it tough - and volunteer, I did that one year (not in the US) and had a great day. Or if the weather is reasonable, take a round-trip train journey somewhere out of town.
And I don't think much will be closed on 26 December ... the poor Americans don't get Boxing Day.

3New York is a busy city 24/7 365 days a year, so its a fine place to spend Xmas and New Years, it may be a tad sleepy on Xmas morning, but overall it will be about 12 hours or less of peace and then city gyrates again...if you stay or hang out south of 14th street, the bars and nightlife will be jammin.

4I was in NYC over Christmas 2 years ago, and it was bustling. There was so much energy in the city. Major sites like the Rockerfeller Center and Time Square were packed with people on Christmas Eve and Day. Many restos closed, but those that were opened were packed--particularly fine dining places. I had to wait 30 minutes for a bar seat at a resto around 14th St on Christmas Eve 23:00 hour.
So you should look forward to having a Merry time in the Gotham City. It is a great place to be for Christmas. The City truly never sleep.
Do bring proper clothes and waterproof shoes to deal with possible snow storm.
