USA itinerary 2 weeks in January for a group of guys.

Hi Guys,
Hope someone can help me here, I got the lucky job of organising this trip, 4 Irish guys under 30 looking for the best party spots in the USA. What we have so far is 3 nights in Austin, 3 nights in Nashville, 3 nights in Memphis, 2 nights in Jackson, 3 nights in Atlanta. Will these cities tick the box for really good night life? We have already done the more obvious ones likes Vegas, New Orleans, New York. We wanted also to see places that not the main tourist cities in the US, but also with good nightlife. We have not booked it yet, have also looked at Phoenix and Dallas plus many many more. If anyone could advise if I'm on the right track or if I need to totally change, I would be very grateful.
Thanks

Jackson where? Mississippi? If the place is a party spot, it's news to me.

Yea it's jackson mississippi, will we had presumed that it was not Las Vegas, but we wanted to check out 1 place off the main tourist track. And the reason i am here is looking for help as I have never been to any of these places.
Thanks

You don't want to go to Jackson.

I'd do Chicago instead of Atlanta. Easy enough to get to from Memphis.

I can't say I know Jackson, MS very well at all. Was there once. I didn't see anything to suggest that there was nightlife of any kind. You might want to do more research on that.

OK cheers guys, I should have said we have already done Chicago, Philadelphia, Vegas, San Fran, NYC.
So you reckon Atlanta would not be that lively?

Jackson, MS, is definitely not a good choice. Atlanta is fine, for your purposes, since it does indeed have nightlife.

But if you're looking for nightlife off the beaten track in the U.S., the place to go (esp. if you're under 30) is the college towns. In the southeast, the best one of those (unless you're counting Austin or Nashville) is Athens, Georgia (whose music scene brought the world REM, the B-52s, and the Indigo Girls). Knoxville, Tennessee, is also okay. In Mississippi, the only decent college town is Oxford--but it's a way better choice for you than Jackson.

Incidentally, I wrote a FAQ on the southeast. Here. It may not help you specifically find party towns all that much, but it might point you to things that you weren't familiar with.

If you are looking at "pulling" local talent, your accents should suffice.
Do you like urban hip hop, country western, or what?
Euro rave music will be scarce.

New Orleans. It has the best night life in the U.S., IMHO, with drinking permitted in the streets throughout the French Quarter, tons of music, and foot traffic. Portland, Oregon also has its moments, although it depends a bit on the time of year. And Boston as well. Quite fun and filled with people out in the evenings. I haven't been to Miami, but here it's good for a party and would much like to visit.

Phoenix is one of the most boring cities. I've been there many times. There's not so much to do. Atlanta wouldn't be my first pick.

You've already been to most of my first suggestions otherwise. Personally, I'm dying to go to Jackson, MS, but haven't been there yet and reasons aren't for a party (though I've been to Biloxi and Birmingham, and can't imagine Jackson being party-ville).

Oops, you've already been to New Orleans, sorry! Didn't see it before posting.

This seems like an odd combination of non-party spots and lots of unnecessary flying. Jackson, Nashville, Memphis?

Phoenix is not a party spot.

January is football season, so any city with a pro team or town with a college team will have sports related partying happening on game nights for an American experience.

Though Miami in January is a top tourist spot, I'd consider it and Key West too.
Catch some sunny Cubano Caribbean vibe.
