Warning: Flight 8M336 is changed without notice (MAI International)

This is about a flight from Bangkok to Yangon.
MAI International flight 8M336 from BKK to RGN used to depart at 09.55, all daily flights from 1 nov and later. Anyway that was at the time I booked this flight some months ago to fly end of november 2012. That is also stated in the e-ticket I received by mail.
Bij coincidence today I looked up that flight and to my astonishment the schedule has changed into depart at 07.10. I am highly surprised that no notice was given to me (so far).

Apart from that, it is not a convenient time to leave Bangkok. Losing 3 hours sleep I could used with the jetlag, I won't have breakfast at the hotel that early. Hope there is a taxi to take me around 5 am to the airfield. I'm not happy with all this.
Arriving at Yangon at 07.55 am, my connecting flight to Heho leaves at 14.15, so that doesn't help either.

All in all a less better start than I was planning.

Contact the airline for verification of flight times.

Yes I will contact Myanmar International Airlines

Consider this post as a warning sign for those who may also have booked this flight 8M336.

I'm thinking of rescheduling my entrance to Burma. Get a refund and book an other flight, to get better connections.

I'm surprised you haven't had a notification - but flight times do change - early morning seems popular AA leaves about 7am as well.

never mind when you arrive go into town and enjoy a great breakfast at the new Golden Chetty its past the bogyoke market on left hand side Or if intent on staying near airport opposite internal flights terminal other side of road is a small market with great small restaurant tea shoppe.
I thin arriving Yangon at 8am is to your advantage
enjoy the adventure hilron

Thanks for warning people about the flight time change, hilron. It is true that airlines in Myanmar often change flight times on whim. It's worth check times for other airlines, Bangkok Air as well as Air Asia and Thai Air.

And let's face it - are you really going to get to sleep the night before anyway- we have one night in Bkk before the 7am to Yangon- and I know I will be too freaking excited & jetlagged to do anything but bounce off the walls!

I don't know that expression, but I'm sure we feel the same about the start of this special journey.

By the way: The airliner noticed me twice today. One to give the new e-tickets and one to apologize. Stating that I have to be at their desk at 05.00 am, so I plan to leave my hotel in Sukomvit at 4. My bio clock will think it's 22.00 by then, so it's not a bad time after all.

The first day in Inle I will mostly be sleeping I'm afraid.
OK

hilron, MIA leaves out of BKK, yes? If so, there are dayrooms in the airport you can rent to catch some sleep. It's called Louis Tavern. That eliminates two taxi rides, and will give you another hour or two of sleep.

LOL #11 sorry NZ-slang - you got the idea though. How long do you have in Bangkok? We arrive the night before at 18:00 so we are going to swap airports and stay and Don Meung before the 5am call. I believe there are a number of hotels near Swampy too.

I arrive at BKK according to scheduled at 14.30. It would indeed be good idea to book a place near the airport. Still can have a look in the city with the skytrain and sleep not far from where I have to be at 05.00.
Easy.
OK
