trip in Austria - 7 days (7 daily trips from one place)
Hello Friends,In mid-October we plan to travel to Austria for a week and ask for your help with planning the route.
We would like to stay in one place (zimmer/apartment) and go out for daily trips by car and we wouln't like to drive more than 100 km (60 miles) a day. preferably as little as possible to be in a car.
We have not decided whether to fly to Vienna or Munich, depending on the route.
We're interested more in nature walks, landscapes, picturesque towns, sites and attractions and less in Museums and Urban.
Ideal for us: stay in an apartment/zimmer overlooking the Alps and / or a lake - preferably both :) ---any recommendations?
We've been to three cable cars before: BadDuerrnberg, Eagles Nest and Schafbergbahn. Are there any other summits that are highly recommended?
We've been to the following places on a previous trip (some on the German side) and prefer new places. But we have no problem returning to the same area if there's more to see.
Chimsee + Ludwig Palace
Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle's Nest)
Bad Duerrnberg
Sommerrodelbahn slides
St. Wolfgang
Wolfgang see
Schafbergbahn
Hallstatt
Hallein
Golling falls
Liechtensteinklamm
Ice cave. Eisriesenwelt
Werfen Castle
Grossglockner. we drove all the way up to the glacier
Kaprun
Krimml Fall
Kitzbuhel
Salzburg Palace
Wattens

Maybe rethink the time of the year you want to visit a lot of small hotels and guesthouses will be closed (zimmer means bedroom its not a type of hotel) the cable cars and lifts will be closed apart from possibly on the galciers where you can go skiing. It is not really a nice time of the year to be going walking and being in the alps. Each day might bring different weather, Sun, Rain and Snow2
"We've been to three cable cars before: BadDuerrnberg, Eagles Nest and Schafbergbahn. Are there any other summits that are highly recommended?"Do some research, a list would get much too long for a post in this forum.
Actual snow limits in the Swiss Canton of Valais: 2800 metres above sea level in the shade, 3400 metres on sunny slopes. Temperatures: 8 to 22 degrees centigrade, according to the altitude.
Temperatures in Austria are usually lower.
