JFK to Manhattan Travel Options

A few options and the approximate cost/time of each:

1) Cab/Taxi: $45-55. 25 min in non-rush hour; > 40 min during rush hour
2) Subway: Take the AirTrain to the E subway station. Take the E train towards Manhattan. Depending on where in Manhattan you wish to go, takes about 1 hour.
3) New York Airporter Shuttle: $15 one-way ride takes you to Grand Central, Bryant Park or Penn station. Picks you up from every terminal, outside of baggage claim area, can buy tickets with credit card.

#1 is WRONG.

There is a FLAT FARE from JFK to Manhattan. It is not $45

From the NYC TLC website:

Flat Fare from John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport:
For trips between (to and from) Manhattan and JFK International Airport, the flat fare is $52.00 plus any tolls using Rate Code 2 on the meter. A NY State Tax Surcharge of $.50 will be added to each trip.

If passengers request multiple stops, the flat rate of $52.00 will be collected at the first stop in either Manhattan or JFK International Airport, and the meter will be activated at Rate Code 1 (standard city rate) for the remainder of the trip. The metered fare should be collected at the last stop, from the last passenger.

If this was meant to be comprehensive it is odd that the A Line doesn't crack it for a mention. Plus there are other airport shuttles.

Considering that most of the information is vague at best I think this person is trying to establish cred. And failing.

And if you're going to Jamaica Station to get the E, you also have the option of the LIRR which is faster to Manhattan.

There's no mention of costs for the Airtrain and subway.

All in all, this is a Fail.
