Cape Breton Island - where to stay?

We will be driving to Cape Breton Island this October for the Celtic Colours Festival. Wanted to do this for years!

I assume we'll book ourselves into one place for four or five nights and then drive to the Island events from there. I'm looking for any advice on places to stay. Port Hawkesbury? Mabou? St Anns? Do you have any B&B's to recommend?

Any other advice about The Island or about local music greatly appreciated.

www.pointmichaudbeachhouse.com --- not on the main route but a possibility. 45 min from Port Hawkesbury; 1 1/2 hr. from Port Hood.

www.singingpebbles.ca Closer to Baddeck. Also a possibility and equally nice.

Also suggest you go to NS "Doers and Dreamers" Guide which lists many accommodations as well as venues, sites and more. www.novascotia.com

Hi there,

I am also travelling to the festival, could we do a car share to get there? I could pay for essence.
I am based in Quebec looking to head out for a first show in Wagmatoock on Saturday.
