Your itinerary generally seems OK.

For Fri morning it's difficult to make a recommendation as Friday is the weekend in Dubai and traditionally things are quiet on Friday morning. You could possibly head to one of the beaches e.g. Jumeirah Beach Park or a water park, or go to one of infamous Dubai brunches which are held in hotels all over town.

on Saturday, don't forget to check out both sides of the creek - on the Bur Dubai side you have the textile souk, museum and Bastakiya.

For Burj Khalifa, definitely 4pm. It'll be dark at 630pm.

For Sunday, maybe check out one of the other big malls (Deira City Centre and Festival City is very close to the airport, Wafi and Bur Juman are also close) or the area in Karama which has cheap souvenirs, fake bags and watches.

For Friday morning, my idea would be to go to Jumeirah to take a look at the Burj Al Arab. It is the iconic building of Dubai. You can't go in unless you have a booking in one of the restaurants, but at least you can see it from outside. There is a public beach nearby, if you are interested in that and the weather's not too hot. For lunch you could go to Madinat Jumeirah. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes there and you can get a good view of the Burj Al Arab.

I agree with dxb1969 - 4pm is best for the Burj Khalifa. 6.30pm is just a little too late. I think the ideal time would actually be around 30 minutes before sunset, then you can see the view in the light and the dark, but if the only tickets available are 4pm and 6.30pm, go for 4pm. For dinner, there are some nice restaurants in the Souk Al Bahar (across the lake from Dubai Mall) where you can eat outside and get a view of the fountain show at the same time.

For Sunday morning, you could take a look at Mall of the Emirates. It has an indoor ski slope, plus all the usual shops. However, it is a bit further from the airport. If you are concerned about getting back to the airport in time, probably best to stick with the malls suggested by dxb1969.

Jumeirah sounds like a good option for Friday morning. And since I am staying near the Mall of Emirates, I might check it out Sunday morning before I head to the airport.

Maybe I should do the Desert safari Friday morning so I can spend the evening in the city? Do you know if it is better during the morning or evening?

Desert Safaris are usually only offered in the late afternoon/evening. I'm not aware of any safari that operate in the morning.

Yes, the desert safaris normally start at around 3pm. I've not heard of a morning one either. I think you're best to stick with the original schedule.

Hello people, I am going to dubai for 2-3 days on 21st October and I need some advice please! I am checking for hotels reasonable price in Deria and Bur Dubai... please, tell me which area is better... I want to be in centre of the city... safe area and walking distance things.. I also need some information about the Burj khalifa fountain..the timings, when to go...also I wanted to know if its easy to get around dubai by metro... like going to jumeirah beach... waiting for ur recommendations!thank uuuu!

this is an itinerary we go by when we have visitors staying. and these are Dubais top tourist attractions. Also look online at 'time out Dubai'' for good restaurant, drinking and doing ideas

rough itinerary for a 4 day stay in Dubai

Day 1
Have brunch and walk around marina or along JBR.
Spend the afternoon at the beach (several beach parks along JBR, um suquim or jumeriah private beach ).
6pm Madinat jumeriah for a walk through the bazaar followed by drinks at trader Vic's or Belgium cafe and light dinner at bazaar restaurant/cafe/bar. can also smoke Shisha here. also some nice lebanese and arab styled restaurants. amazing views of the burj al arab, and photo opportunities.

Day 2
-10am Go to jumeriah mosque for tour and 'Islamic cultural learning'. 10Aed entry. this is highly recommended and explains islam and muslim way of life very well, takes one hour.

-Brunch/lunch at jumeriah lime tree or jumeriah marine resort.

-Do abra trip and a walk around souks (gold, textiles, spice markets)

-Afternoon men relax, and women go to Talise spa (top spa in dubai. Pricey, but you wont regret!) for absolute bliss.

-Dinner at the atlantis (12 restaurants to choose from) nobu is our favorite. book in advance

Day 3
Visit Dubai mall for the day

Afternoon Go up the Burj khalifa (152nd floor) for sunset (best to book online in advance, only 100aed compared to 300aed if you turn up without booking)

Have dinner at the Dubai fountain, the souk al bahar side has best views and some restaurants serve alcohol. thai restaurant mango tree!

Day 4
Desert safari (3-9pm) or Atlantis/wild wadi water parks. Or snowboarding at mall of the emirates

transport (taxis and metro) are very affordable. keep in mind that the city is big so dont try and fit too much into one day or youll be too exhausted to enjoy.
