Where to fly cheap from Guatemala to the south?I'm just brainstorming my next trip. I want to spend about 5 weeks in Guatemala then head to S. America but so far I've plugged in a few major cities and the tickets are really expensive (US$700+ one way). Eventually I want to end up in Santiago or Buenos Aires but I can make some jumps to get there. There must be one or two routes that are their bread and butter out of GUA to something besides the U.S.
(I have a bunch of points on One World but there's no airline that easily services GUA without going back to the U.S.)

3Usually cheaper to go thru Miami. Oneworld is American Airlines, they can do the entire trip for you, as they fly all those places.

4There are few airlines flying to Guatemala and, as previous users said, the best bet to go to South America is usually through the USA.
However, if you don't want to backtrack to the USA and as you have OneWord points/miles, you can fly from Guatemala to Mexico DF with Interjet (or any other airline if it's cheaper) and, once in Mexico, use your miles for the flight from Mexico to Santiago de Chile with LAN.

5Great plan Anillos_de-saturno!
It's really cheap to get to Mexico City with Interjet (I had forgot about that airline) and then I can use One World (LAN) to hop down to Santiago with miles. I can make a stop in Peru for less miles as flying to Santiago direct from Mexico City.
