Shipping bicycles to UK from Natchez or New Orleans?I am cycling the Natchez Trace with my son next week. We are coming from UK and are buying bikes in Nashville.
We would like to sell them in Natchez but believe there are already too many there!
Is there an inexpensive way to ship them to UK from Natchez or New Orleans or any other good solution?

4Check with your air carrier - you may be able to disassemble them and ship them air freight.
Our friends from France just left after backpacking with us around the western U.S. They shipped all their backpacking gear with them back to France (on Air France). Had to wrap everything in plastic wrap, the package weighed around fifty pounds, but it was very reasonable cost to ship and went on the same plane with them.

5Thank you very much for taking the time to reply.
bzookaj - I checked these companies and they charge around £350 for each bike which is a lot.
Aruv - We are buying our bikes from tracebikes as the hire cost for 8 days is almost as much as they cost and we were concerned about any damage they might incur while being sent back.
CascadeBob - This is a good idea but we have to get them to the airport in New Orleans and we have very little time.
carracar - I think this will be the best bet - thanks

6Usually a bike is $150 to ship on plane in the USA, and you need the box, and need to take off pedals/handlebars.

7You may have better luck selling the bikes in New Orleans than you would in Natchez. Natchez is quite a small town. New Orleans, by contrast, is a bikable city with many college students.

8SoloHobo - Thank you. Natchez bike store will box the bikes for $50 each but the shipping costs we have found are way more than $150. We, naively, thought we could send them in a container by sea but that isn't an option. I think we'll give them to a 'not for profit' organisation in Natchez. Thanks again.
