Gorilla Permits - How to get answers?
Hi, I've emailed Rwanda tourism multiple times to find out about whether there are any permits left for October. No response. Any idea how I can find this info out? Thanks.2
Have you tried Uganda as well? The permits are significantly cheaper, and usually easier to get5
Can only speak for Uganda, but I was advised to keep calling each day to see if there were last-minute cancellations, and we managed to get two. Apparently it's quite common for very wealthy people to book permits for 2 or 3 days, and then when they see them on day one and realise how long the trek is, they cancel their other days6
yeah this can happen but you need to ask the right person as its not usually the UWA that sell permits cheap, its tour companies who buy them in advance a year before etc. UWA local offices (kabale, kisoro) used to be the best places for USD250, USD300 permits but now they are not allowed to sell any permits in offices other than Kampala, which is a bit more by-the-book, but it can be done if you don't care when you see them
