re Homestays / Pensions in Maramures
Heading for Maramures in a couple of days. Have drawn up an approximate route and prebooked some accommodation but would appreciate any advice on availability of Pensions / Homestays in some of the more rural locations. If I was to arrive in somewhere such as Barsana or Calinesti, would finding a room for a couple of nights be straightforward? Oh, and is it worth staying in Ocna Sugatag? Not found much written about it other than it's a spa town but seems like a good base to walk to nearby villages such as Cornesti and Budesti. Thanks

There are a lot of pensions in Borsana in fact just about every third house and you can stay in the monastery where Prince Charles stays when he is in the area. For something maybe a little more dramatic and more difficult try Glod or Stramtura. Glod has the best most scenic swimming pool anywhere there is nothing quite like being in the pool and watching shepherds herding their sheep past.As for Ocna really not that exciting especially as the pool is likely to be closed this time of year. I dont think there is a pension in Calanesti but if you ask in the bar somone may sort you out. Better still try Breb there are a few pensions and even a very small but very nice hostel. Budesti has a couple of pensions one on the main street another on one of the streets further up the village. Cornesti has a pension, its a quiet small village but the pension is a bit over the top rather large and not that great. If you arrive in a village and there is no pension ask around in the bar or village shop and someone will help you out.
