Travel Companion Thailand 18th Oct?

Hi i'm Matt 25, from the UK, will be traveling for the 1st time solo and arriving Bangkok on the 18th Oct. Pretty much bricking it, but if anyone would like to meet for a beer, chat travel ideas... would be more than welcome. Maybe end up as travel companions,

It's just another forum link in the 'sell, swap, meet up section'. Just post what you are doing and where.

Hi,

Look I was first there as a young seafarer (15 years old) and you pair are bricking it. Get real, mid twenties and afraid to let go of your Mum's hand? Safe country (not) without the odd problem but just keep aware.

You will do fine, if you just use a little common sense. If you do not meet up with anyone before you go you will soon bump into some buddies. Or better still do as I do travel solo, does not mean you are totally alone but just free do do as you please.

No doubt you'll head for KSR upon arrival, where, guess what, there will be thousands more just like you, bricking it on their first night over Beer Chang/Sing/whatever. You'll be just fine, Matt - leave your nappies at home!

OP:
SE Asia is a good bet for a first trip solo abroad. Even at the age of 56 I cannot imagine going any other way. The locals (and sometimes others) in Thailand, Viet Nam, Laos, etc often ask me why I travel alone. I reply, 'would you have stopped to talk to me if I was with someone else?'
You will have no problems meeting others, be they fellow visitors, ex-pats or locals.
Enjoy yourself, believe me the feeling of being stranded in a foreign (and initially strange) place will go in no time.
