I'd imagine the shuttle is a money-saver over a 30-mile or so taxi ride. Annapolis has more colonial-era
buildings than any other American town- a very intact historical architecture district. Be sure to walk from
the harbor up to the capitol. Seafood can't be beat.

If you're considering a cab, I imagine money is no object. But just in case it is, and depending on your arrival time, the way to do it most cheaply would be to take the metro to one of the stops of Bus 922. Blue Line to Federal Triangle would pobably be best.

That doesn't quite go to the center, but a taxi from the Loews hotel stop would be quick and pretty cheap.

I wish that schedule had a more recent date. You should check with Dillon's Bus Co, which operates the bus under contract to WMATA by phone to verify times.

Yes #1, and the state house in Annapolis is the oldest operating state capitol in the U.S.

There's a very good seafood restaurant in the yacht club at the waterfront (can't remember the name).

The cab ride will be somewhere around $85-$90, assuming you don't hit bad traffic.
The shuttle is about $60.

How is the drive from Annapolis to Richmond VA via Rt 301? Was thinking of going Saturday Morning from DC to Annapolis, spend a few hours there, then drive to Richmond VA for lunch, and then down to Williamsburg...

Kenko, I will definitely do that walk. We were initially going to rent a car to travel from the Airport to Annapolis, but then realized it was a nice city to walk around and our hotel is central and close to the waterfront, where we want to be. So we will be walking around a lot.

Cascadebob, thanks for the resto suggestion. We will certainly notice the resto you are referring to as we will most probably see the yacht club.

Bzookaj, I counted $69 for the shuttle since the baby will be taking a place with his seat. I'm not sure if the shuttles fill up at the last minute or if we have to book and they will organize this for us. We have to call and see. If we share, the price becomes very interesting while staying a simple way to travel. If not, $69 or $90 is not a big difference to me. As for restaurants... romantic? With a baby? Perhaps not for the other clients. ;) A view is of course always nice. Dive?? As for type of food, if it's good in its style, then its worth suggesting. I imagine seafood must be excellent since it's close to Sea. Sushi can be excellent close to Sea if there are creative chefs. And Italian is always good if done well... After that, it depends on everyone's tastes. A suggestion can be taken or not. Regarding my "budget, in numbers", if it were that much of an issue, I would have specified. If the quality is high, the price may well be worth it. And if the temptation is grand, it is possible to splurge and go over budget once in a while. If it's a good deal (an excellent diner for example), well that's fun too.

Vinny D, Thank you very much for the bus info. I will definitely look into it, but I want to keep it simple with the baby after the traveling. So metro + bus with baby and luggage might be a turn off.

We like Federal House on the waterfront in Annapolis. Also McGarveys and Middleton Tavern both have had pretty good food in the past (just haven't eaten at either one lately). All are touristy, but it is downtown Annapolis.

For something fancy Treaty of Paris has been a long time standard, but I have to admit, I have never eater there.

For simple and classic Annapolis Chick and Ruth's Deli is about as Maryland as it comes.

Buddy's Crabs and Ribs is one of the most touristy and for a lot of food at a fairly cheap price their buffet is probably as cheap as you find downtown but you get what you pay for. The exception is if you like raw oysters and the raw bar is included in the buffet price you can eat a lot of good oyster for the price.

Do yourself a favor and buy an ice cream at Storm Brothers and walk along the waterfront while you eat it. A great simple pleasure. Don't let the line at Storm Brother's bother you, they are very efficient.

Couldn't think of the name McGarvey's. I like the atmosphere and the food.

Chick and Ruth's and Storm Brothers are also good recommendations.

There have been requests here for babysitting services for those on vacation. I asked to determine if you were one of them.

I like Cafe Sakura for sushi. They have some interesting variations on it (like versions that are topped and baked for a bit) in addition to standards.
Others may recommend Joss. I haven't tried, but you can supposedly order fried shrimp heads (an off menu item).

McGarvey's is supposed to be very good for oysters. (It's not something I eat too often, so haven't tried there yet.)

Crab is plentiful.
You can try McGarvey's or Galway Bay, but many places sell it in various forms.

I like xAnnapolis Ice Cream Company more. IIRC, they also do cupcakes, with rotating flavors.
