Somebody posted some time ago that he was unwell and that was why he had not featured on here. I did not think for one moment it was that serious. Never met him but judging by the glowing comments above he seemed a good bloke.

So sad.

Thanks Henning for advice received in the past - your words of wisdom will live on for those who come to search.

Like many posting to this thread, I have never met Henning, but I always read what he had to say as responses to questions.

I sent him a few PM's before and during my recent trip to Cambodia and he always replied with an informative, helpful reply in a very welcoming & friendly tone.

Sounds a bit corny, but through a few brief online exchanges, you feel like you actually know someone...this is reinforced when I read the news of his passing. I was saddened to read the news and my thoughts and condolences go to his friends and family.

RIP HW.

Maybe I missed it, but I didnt see a post from LP management on here. Considering Henning was a long time poster and very helpful, I would of thought that LP could of made a short post in regards to his passing.

Maybe the LP management are happy with making this thread a sticky, but with that volume of useful posts recognition of his passing would be good to see. I raised a glass to Henning over the weekend more than once. RIP friend.

Very sad news, but not unexpected because he had written to me about his health problems. The last news was that he was about to fly to KL for treatment, but if he went all the way to Amsterdam, it must have been an ordeal...

He made numerous photo reports and food reports over on our Any Port message board, and I'm sure that I will be looking through them all again in the coming days.

Here is Henning's photo tale of the culinary delights that he shared with his mother in Indonesia last spring:

Just found out this morning. Although it wasn't a complete shock, with someone as vital as Henning, it seemed impossible that he would not pull through.

I can't add to the lovely tributes from others, only echo them as they're all so accurate -- cheerful, friendly, GOOD, and a consummate gentleman in the best sense of the word.

#39:
thank you! don't know how to put it...given the timing of that trip & what happened later, it feels as if he met up with his mum in his birthplace to enjoy together for the last time the familiar food that they so love from their younger days...happy for him that he had the chance for this 'reunion' with so many favourite dishes.

Ha! Thanks for that, Kerouac! I'm happy to see that Henning gives the fish we had an honorable mention, with some images of us selecting the fish and of the excellent sambal that we had with it!

Hi Folks, Henning used up most of his cash in the last few month trying to sort out his health issues, end result his wife is in a bad way financially - please link to http://www.khmer440.com/chat_forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25435&start=105 and see comments made on page 8,9 + 10.

We are putting together a collection for his wife and if any of you want to contribute that would be greatly appreicated.

Thanks
Kev

Kev-
Please let us know the PayPal account info. It is hard for me to send money to Cambodia (no western union et al here!) but I visit every year and would have no problems arranging to meet up with someone to help me send money to Mint once in Phnom Penh in December.
