liberia to mal pais

liberia to mal pais

trying to head to mal pais and we are flying into liberia airport. Whats the best/cheapest way to get down there? Does anyone know how to take the public bus down there??

the buses going from the town of liberia to the beaches and to santa cruz and nicoya pass right by the airport if you choose to go that way. the other way to go is to head into liberia for the bus station and take the bus south from there to puntarenas and then cross on the ferry, picking up another bus on the other side.

well - now that i look at the bus schedule website - that's screwed up! i know for a fact that you can take a bus from liberia to puntarenas without changing buses - i have done it. i'll see what more i can find out for you.

ah, yes - this website is better. http://www.liberiacostaricainfo.com/BusScheduleLiberiaCostaRica.html reina del campo is the company that has the bus from liberia to puntarenas so you could check their website to verify times.

to get to the bus station from the airport, you can just take a taxi. it will be around $20. or -- you can grab one of the buses that are coming from the beaches and going into liberia. you should probably get a taxi for the trip to the highway for the bus because it's just over a mile, no shoulder or sidewalk and it will be very hot.

The bus going from liberia to san jose will also stop at Cruces de Baranca, if you aske them to.

From there you can take a bus into punterenas.

so true, menachem. "cruces de barranca" is the "entrance" to puntarenas. it is a major stop and there is a big gas station on the left. you could just ask someone on the bus "puntarenas?" and they will say yes or no. you can get a bus into puntarenas from there or just take a taxi.

so.... the poster named "tropical tours" recommends tropical tours shuttle? seems legit......

also - answering a post in september in a thread that originally started sometime in february... seems ok to me.

besides - four posts: four posts recommending tropical tours.
