lodge
We're traveling to Malawi in 2 weeks, and have been told we're staying at the Kabeto Lodge near Chinteche. I can't find anything relating to the Lodge....anybody familiar with this lodge??Also is a travel Visa recommended, or just carry cash?
Thanks
Karol

Hi Karol, welcome to ThornTree.I can't help but wonder if this is some kind of contraction or slang for Kande Beach Lodge ("KaBeLo")? Haven't come across it in our researches, but we did stay at a couple of places that didn't come up readily on internet searches (but they did come up). Maybe this place is just new?
I'd recommend sending a PM (private message) to MalawiKate. You can find a link to her profile using the search box in the upper right of this page. Also, Chinteche is also spelled Chintheche, which may help your searches. Good luck.
As for money, we just carried cash. Kept it on our persons at all time. Be aware that Malawian money is quite bulky compared to USD, British Pounds, or Euros, so a small daypack is a good idea for this. I believe the nearest ATM machine for getting cash will be in Nkhata Bay, but may not always be in working order. We never used a credit card for payments, but this may possible in some places.
Have a great trip.

Hi KarolI have never heard of that lodge or the other one you mentioned in the other post. sorry! Maybe it is a local lodge that does not have an online presence. The only lodges i know in the Chinteche area are Chinteche Inn, Makuzi Beach Lodge, Ngala Beach Lodge. For more look on Explore-Malawi where there are all the main hotel listings in most areas of Malawi.
Sorry not to be of more help- if you get any more details then let me know and i will do some research for you.
Have a fantastic time.
Kate
