Hawaii- Oahu and Big Island

We are going to Hawaii for the first 2 weeks of March. We are going to Oahu and the Big Island. We are not sure how to divide up the trip, how much time to spend on each island. Can you please advise. We love to hike and also like kayaking. Not much interested in city or touristy stuff. Not surfers or suba divers but enjoy the beach. Hiking is number 1 priorty. We have been to Kauai and Maui so want to restrict ourselves to these 2 other islands. Thanks for any planning help.

I've faced that question a couple of times, and have never found a compelling reason to spend more than a day or two (or sometimes an hour or less) on Oahu. Make of that what you will.

I think the Big Island would be best for you. Oahu, is touristy, crowded, lots of shopping etc. Waikiki beach however is lovely for swimming.
