overland from congo to gabonhi,
has anyone recently gone from either brazzaville or pointe-noir to gabon? are borders open, is there any kind of bushtaxi/bus transport, are there checkpoint hassles, bandit dangers, etc? Is the train from brazzaville to pointe-noir working? any information highly appreciated!

Thanks for this very useful info. Do you think this trip (ewo to leconi) can be done in october-november (rainy season) as well? Or would all traffic competely stop during the rainy season? I have to decide whether I will try Brazzaville - Libreville by land or whether I will buy an airticket in Brazzaville. Other optiona are land via Dolisie- Dousalla, or Pointe Noire-Libreville by air.
Any further info would be much appreciated.

I cannot comment on the Dolisie to Dousalla route as I did not go that way.
For Ewo-Leconi, I cannot know for sure as I have not been there during the rainy season. But my strong guess is that transport will go. During the dry season the issue is powdery sand and sandbanks, during the rainy season it will be mud and water pools. But the vehicles are all sturdy high clearance ones and local people do need to travel these routes to. So I imagine you will be fine, though you may have to wait longer for a ride than during the dry season. Certainly the guy that drove us indicated he did the route year round. So I think you will be fine though you may need to be patient (and your bags may get wet!).
In any case, parts of the Oyo-Ewo road are not great either, so you will get a sense on that leg what the conditions are going to be like in the rainy season during that leg of the journey.
From Leconi to Franceville there is an excellent tarmac road. And from Franceville you can get the train to Libreville.
Hope that helps
