Walking Tours in Berlin?

Has anyone been on a walking tour like this http://www.berlinwalks.de/tours_discoverberlin.html?

Worth it? Or should I skip it and try to cover the same ground myself?

I think those walking tours are pretty good...if you have the budget and don't know much about the city, you can learn a lot of interesting information.

I haven't done that one but I did the Sachsenhausen walking tour whilst in Berlin and found it excellent.Guide was great.....

In fact it is a question of time. If you use the tour with a guide it will be short with a lot of informations. If you go by your own with a guide book in your hands you need much more time for.

We usually go straight to a bookshop when we are in a new town and buy a small guide book, they normally cost about 5 euro (most walking tours cost around 7 euro per person). Every book we have bought has come with a walking guide in it and gives you a little detail about all types of things, and we can take our time! Although I have previously done walking tours (not in Berlin) and they were very interesting, maybe a little more info than what comes in the book

I have done several walking tours in Berlin on specific topics (Cold War, Third Reich, and Sachsenhausen) rather than "city" tours, and all were extremely interesting. For a general outlook of the city, I prefer getting a guidebook and a map and do it on my own.

When we went there were "free walking tours" which seemed very popular and we massively enjoyed ours. Our guide was a german history student and so knew a lot of interesting stuff. You give a donation of whatever you feel at the end but around 5 euros seemed ample. I am sure they would still be around now? Maybe they are only around for the tourist season though.

I don't think we are allowed to say company names... but um...when I was in Berlin there was a company that offered free walking tours. It was super fun! You tip what you feel is right. The group was pretty big though. Hope I helped!

I did a free walking tour in Berlin too and can highly recomend it. Most Europeen cities have a free walking tour (tips expected ) which I've never been disapointed by. Some are less good than others, but none have been bad (and Berlin was easily the best one I've been on)
