1 Month Europe Itinerary

Hi all,

Looking for some advice / suggestions to my 1 month Europe itinerary for June / July 2013 below.

We are 24 years old and this is our first time to europe for our honeymoon. We are hoping to fill our holiday with amazing food, amazing scenery, beaches, night life and a visit as many main attractions as we can.

Please note the 1 month includes our flights to/from Perth, WA.

I like your itinerary....just as I would do it.

Don't plan too much in advance and take it as it comes........

Hi - and welcome to Thorn Tree.

What mode(s) of transport are you planning to use?

Congratulations on your wedding.

Kudos for not moving around too much. Can't give a lot of other suggestions as I presume you've done your research and selected these places for a specific reason; all of them are popular tourist towns, perhaps there are "better" (though that's entirely subjective of course) suggestions but that's hard to tell without knowing what attracted you to these towns in the first place.

One specific suggestion though: to avoid backtracking to Paris at the end of your trip, consider buying an open-jaw ticket that allows you to fly into Paris and out of another city (there aren't any direct intercontinental flights from Dubrovnik, as far as I know, but it should be possible to fly from there to your intercontinental airlines nearest European hub (Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London etc) and change flights there.

I second the openjaw idea. Absolutely no need to fly back to Paris to fly home.

Croatia airlines for example could fly you frm Dubrovnik to Rome, where you could connect for an Emirates flight to Dubai and onwards to Perth (hell, from Rome you have multiple options with airlines via the Middle East or SE Asia.

Oh...that's your real itinerary...

Its not too bad.I guess you have reasons for wanting to see all these places? Personally I wouldn't bother with Nice...what do you want to do there?

Why not get an open jaw instead of flying back from Paris?

Good Itenary - You can get a train to Sorrento - you'll have to change in Naples. Another option would be a ferry from Naples.

Nice is nice, but very expensive and not a whole lot to do or see compared to the other places you have mentioned. I wouldn't spend too much time there myself. And I don't think I'd call any mainline train journys in Europe "senic"

If your swaping it out for somewhere - I'd recomed Madrid, very accesable from Barcalona by train or air. - be very easy to get from there to Italy by air too.

Also - Naples airport is nearer to Sorento than Rome for flying out.

And I agree with the others if you can fly to somewhere else to fly home, get to see somewhere new. Amsterdam would be my recomondation there (London being a close second)

I'd possibly drop a day (or maybe even two from Barcalona too) - your staying there a long time, add them to one of the nicer cities on your list (maybe Rome - a month wouldn't see everything there) - or the new city at the end if you can manage that.

I couldn't possibly suggest an itinerary for you because it really is down to personal tastes!
But being of a similar age to you I would have to say that there are some places I would recommend to you, although naturally you'll make your own mind up :-).

Amazing food - Most major places in Italy and Hamburg - the traditional German food is delicious!
Amazing Scenery - Well, different parts of pretty much any country so take your pick :-)
Beaches - Cornwall in England have some STUNNING beaches, and most parts of Greece too.
Nightlife - Ibiza (naturally) Stockholm, Munich and London.
Attractions - Hamburg again - the Art Gallery and churches are beautiful, and Berlin too while you're in Germany. Paris is also amazing.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have definately already looked at getting an open-jaw ticket and will look into further as I can see the benefit.

We have really no idea what places we will like or not ive just put these places down after research and recommendations from friends. If you have any better suggestions on places to visit that will make our first trip more memorable im definately open to suggestions even if it means completely starting from scratch.

Ok now that said, im now thinking:

Day 1 - Fly day
Day 2 - Amsterdam
Day 3 - Amsterdam
Day 4 - Amsterdam / Paris
Day 5 - Paris
Day 6 - Paris
Day 7 - Paris / Madrid (fly)
Day 8 - Madrid
Day 9 - Madrid / Barcelona (train)
Day 10 - Barcelona
Day 11 - Barcelona
Day 12 - Barcelona
Day 13 - Barcelona / Florence (fly)
Day 14 - Florence
Day 15 - Florence
Day 16 - Florence / Rome (train)
Day 17 - Rome
Day 18 - Rome
Day 19 - Rome
Day 20 - Rome
Day 21 - Rome / Naples
Day 22 - sorrento
Day 23 - sorrento
Day 24 - Naples / split (fly)
Day 26 - split / hvar
Day 27 - hvar
Day 28 - Dubrovnik
Day 29 - Dubrovnik
Day 30 - fly day
Day 31 - fly day

You really only have two days in Paris and I would recommend two more. There is just so much to do in that city. I also agree with an open jaw ticket and see that you have dropped Nice, good.
