All Aboard SRT resume C Mai trainsNorth train service resumes

Train services to Chiang Mai resumed on Tuesday after workcrews epaired the damaged track in Lamphun province, the State Railway of Thailand said.
The line to Chiang Mai was reopened at 2pm Tuesday following the completion of a track safety train trip and services were back to normal, the SRT said.
Heavy rains and a landslide caused a sinkhole underneath the railway track between Khun Tan and Tha Chumpoo stations in Lamphun, washing out the line and causing the SRT to suspend services between Lampang and Chiang Mai on Saturday.

3Happy to read this as I have a night train ticket from CM to Bangkok on the 15th. Just to be sure, the train is up and running again in both directions right? I rely on being in Bangkok on the 16th for my flight home so any good advice is appreciated...

7I saw that on Thai tv. It didn't look like a sinkhole, but a wash out caused by insufficient drainage under the track, and if the "repairs" they were making were any indication, it'll wash out again in the next heavy rain.
What was it that Yingluck said about there being no repeat of flooding in Thailand this year????? The floods I've been seeing on Thai tv news must be in that OTHER Thailand ( alternate universe, LOL )!

9Agree the floods can halt train again at any time
Bus though less comfortable is also faster
I came up on the sleeper in August was 5 hours late before the rains
Bu I d rather be in a clean air con bunk with a restaurant in walking distance than a mobile Kung Fu film freezing cold.
If you take aircon bus wrap up!!!!
