Amazing Safari and Kili experience - Thanks KATz Adventure
Just returned from a 5 day Safari to Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater followed by seven magical and shattering days exploring Mt Kilimanjaro. After much research and emailing several companies I locked in KATz Volunteer Adventure (www.katzadventure.com). As a solo budget traveler on a tight schedule I was amazed at how easy everything was. They found additional numbers to keep costs to a minimum and fitted everything into my preferred times.
Food was exceptional, Staff professional, happy and knowledgeable. We saw lions galore in the Serengeti and all the other beauties I was hoping for. Kili was a real treat and again the staff and food could not be faulted.
Anyone thinking about an Adventure in Africa, I would highly recommend KATz.
All the best with you travels,
Trev

Hey Trev,Couldn't agree with you more. I volunteered with KATz and did a safari and culture tour to the hot springs and Moshi Waterfalls and they were Fabbo. Everything you said about the staff and food rings true. I find any excuse at all to talk about my Tanzanian experiences and am looking forward to planning a return visit. I stay in touch with the KATz Happenings via the Book and am looking forward to visiting Kelvin and Jodie again soon (hopefully). Go KATz GO!!!!

This might be more useful if you told folks what you paid for the safari and for the Kili climb, how many travellers joined you, what type of accomodations you had, etc. Maybe even say a little something about yourself and your level of experience (hiking, climbing, etc). Otherwise, first time posters who give no real details tend to be discounted as touts.6
Wow,Apparently I am a bit of a novice at posting a review but given its my first, I'll take that.
Cost of Safari was $800 each. I went with 4 others (combo of vollies and tourists)
Cost of Kili was $1300 each person (There were two of us)
Accommodation was basic camping
And ah I'm about as novice at Climbing/trekking as I am at posting on forums :) I am in my early 30's and had some friends recommend their Safari and Trek in Tz a few years back, so finally got around to doing it for myself. Hopefully that makes some difference to my credibility. At the end of the day I had such a great experience and just wanted to show my appreciation to them as they are a small company doing a great job, I certainly had the experience of a lifetime. Thanks. Trev

Trev - welcome to Thorntree. There's nothing wrong with saying that a group provided a good experience for you. The problem is that on this branch you get a lot of first time posters who give no detail other than "they were great - I recommend them highly." In many instances they'll make multiple posts on various threads, usually in fractured English, and it becomes quite clear that they are just touts. In other instances touts will cut and paste from letters from their customers and then post - so when there are few details provided we tend to get suspicious.Sounds like you had a great time - it is a great place!
