Whale-watching in Tadoussac

We wanted to go whale watching in Tadoussac in a few weeks in the middle of September. We were hoping that other people would be willing to tell us about their experience.

What companies did you do the tour with? Did anybody hear of any company that was particularly good or bad?

We had heard of Croisiere AML and Dufour. Are there any others?

Were you on the big boats or the Zodiacs? How was it?

Any info would be appreciated.

I'm afraid I can't remember the name of the company I went with, but we went out in a Zodiac and it was so much more fun than being on a boat. (I'd gone out on a boat in Nova Scotia) I did it early June and whist the weather in general wasn't too cold, 3 hours on the water, I was frozen (even with the padded trousers and jacket they provide) so definitely layer up!

Caroline,

Thanks for the info, we're definitely going to wear lots of layers, but we definitely want to do it in a zodiac. That sounds so much better.

If anyone else has any more info, we'd love to hear it.

I've been a few times, always in Zodiac. The best observations I've had were from the shore, or on the free ferry while it was still docked, and once in a Zodiac... about 100 feet from the shore.

BTW, if staying there, the Hotel Tadoussac has been offering low season rates to attract tourists so check it out. I know that they did so on the weekend recently and it meant a huge drop for people.
