WHERE TO GO, LEAVING NYC - 5-6 day trip

Hi all!

I have 5 days in total (Thur-Mon) any weekend in October or November. I am looking for a getaway that will have equal parts culture/adventure.

I’m a bit budget conscious in terms of flight – ideally would pay 400-700 (round trip).

I’m very familiar with Ireland, Holland, Italy and the larger cities in Spain (Madrid + Barcelona).

I was considering places like: Portugal, London (have been but would go again), Paris (have been but would go again).

Any other ideas???

Your question is about European travel, not US travel, so it should be on the European branch.

The less information you give, the fewer the responses you will get.

Puerto Rico -- Old San Juan and then local flight to/from Vieques.

Oaxaca Mexico, via InterJet out of JFK.

Iceland.

Canary Islands.

Haven't been to the last 3 of those, yet, but have been looking at airfares recently with similar criteria, and it's going to be tough to find something with the good connections you'd want for a 5-day trip and a low fare. Try skyscanner or the like, but I think you'll find those are good options given what you say you're seeking.

Cross-posted with #3 -- CR's a good option for the adventure part for sure, but as you know not so much for culture.

I wouldn't spend that amount of time on an airplane--and getting to and from airports--to spend 3 nights in Europe.

It'll be Friday morning before you arrive and you'll have to leave Monday. Maybe you could leave late Wednesday night. But still...

But if you insist, Skyscanner.com says the countries that fit your flight budget are Ireland, France, and Italy. More so in November.

In Spain you can go to many other destination that are worth it to visit as Granada, Toledo, Bilbao or even Córdoba.

You can flight to Madrid that should be expensive (I would suggest this travel site - http://www.trabber.com/us/ ) and then take a high speed train.

Let me know if you have any question.

I am agree with dagoseed72. You already know the most famous cities in Spain, but you have many other cities to know. I recommend Andalusia (specially Granada & Cordoba), it is absolutely different to Madrid & Barcelona.

I am in Granada, so I could talk about some magic places here (you must visit the Alhambra, of course).

Here you can find the expected weather in Granada in November
