Costa Rica to Machu Picchu in two months?
hello fellow travelers,So my brother and i have decided on a two month trip from Costa Rica all the way down to Machu Picchu starting mid November. Now we are both aware that two months isn't a lot of time to really see everything but that's what we are working with. My question is if this is even possible in regards to time and money.. We would be traveling by bus and staying in cheap hostels with a budget of $50-60 per day per person. We are also planning to cross the darien gap via the san blas islands and on to Colombia.
The itinerary is pretty laid back, we are both fluent in Spanish, very easy going and don't mind a few drinks here and there. We both enjoy beaches, the countryside, hiking, and of course meeting new people. We are also covering the sail boat and the machu picchu trek aside from our daily spending.
My main concern is the time. is it possible to get to Peru in less than two months? will we hate ourselves for rushing? is the money ok? have any of you guys done this that could recommend a sailing company, and any other tips or insight you guys may want to bestow upon us. would gladly appreciate it!

Sure it's possible. You could do it in one month, if running for your lives. On the other hand it wouldn't be much of a stretch to spend a month in Costa Rica and Panama, the following month in Colombia, then three weeks in Ecuador and another five in Peru.Budget depends on the number of organized activities, including Kuna Yala sailing. Basically you're probably fine. Not much room for fine dining, diving, fancy tours out of Cuzco, etc. etc. etc.
Whether you'll hate yourselves....well, probably at times you will. If you happen to like moving fairly steadily, and don't care for settling in for a week or two here or there or taking a lot of side trips, you've got plenty of time. If not, you'll get frustrated at moving on so frequently. But yours is far from the most rushed schedule I've seen posted here.
Hope that's helpful.

Doesn't sound like a good itinerary for 2 months. And San Blas islands aren't even close to Darien Gap. But it's a way to go, if you can find flights from a Central American country. You could start from Colombia instead, if you want to reach MP after two months. Even that would be quite rushed, being much shorter trip than your original plan.
