Delhi Airport- Train Station Wait - What to do?
I have about 8 hours to spare from the time my flight arrives in New Delhi until I have to catch a train at the central Delhi station that evening.I don't want to do a ton of walking about as I'll have a bit of luggage with me, though I also don't want to just hang around the airport or train station for all that time.
As well, I'm a single female and not too excited to be in India alone. (I'm meeting friends later)
Any recommendations on what to do during my wait?
Thank you.

Leave your luggage at the cloak room of the railway station (suitcases and bags have to be locked and youhave to show your train ticket). You say it's central station, so I assume it's New Delhi. Catch the metro from
the station to old Delhi, have l look around Chandni Chowk or visit the Red Fort...

One alternative is to get a taxi into Pahar Gunj and grab a cheap room for the afternoon. (I say taxi because the metro from the airport is closed for the momment). After a long flight you might want a shower and maybe a nap. Pahar Gunj is not my favourite part of Delhi (it's a tourist ghetto) but it is handy to New Delhi Station. If you return to Delhi stay somewhere nicer. But if your not tired zauberberg's suggestion is a good one.

leave your luggage at New Delhi Train station for the day and maybe do a half day tour run by Delhi Tourism Development Corporation.time for something to eat, collect your luggage and get a pre paid auto from New Delhi Train Station to Delhi train station (also known as Old Delhi.
alternatively you could leave your luggage at Delhi Train station and have a look around Old Delhi including the REd Fort and Chandni Chowk.

If you are nervous about being in India by yourself for a short while. you could look at doing a half day tour in a taxi, I'm sure you could find a taxi/tour company online that can pick you up from the airport, drive you around to see some sights, and then drop you off at the station.Otherwise, getting a taxi to Pahar Ganj and getting a cheap room for a few hours maybe a good idea too....then get a taxi and see some sights. Cottage yes please is fairly cheap and clean...I'd imagine any place is going to charge you a days stay...but we are only talking around 10-15 euros..not bad for a place to keep your luggage, and the ability to have a shower and a nap if you want it. Your hotel will easily be able to arrange a driver for the day also.
I'd recommend Humayuns tomb, Ghandi Smitri, Qutub Minar & maybe Jama Masijd...that should keep you busy for around 4 hours or so.
Connaught place is an area with more upmarket cafe's/restaurants/bars....
You could leave your bag at the train station, but for a first timer to India, it can be very overwhelming, and the place is crawling with sharks/conmen looking for people like you to rip off.
