travel from dubrovnik to slovenia coast

Greetings to all you awesome travelers.......I will be in dubrovnik for a week end of sept. I need to determine the easiest/most interesting/least expensive/quickest OR best way to get myself up to Slovenia coastal area. I would visit Slovenia area then train/bus to venice......any thoughts? and thanks ahead

Bus from Dubrovnik to Trieste and other bus from Trieste to Capodistria/Pirano/Portorose. You may stop over wherever you like: Makarska Riviera, Split, Trogir, Sibenik/Krka Falls Park...... or travel from Zadar via Pag Island - Rab Island to Rijeka and then by bus to Trieste....
Bus timetables (check again before leaving):

Slovenia - Venice:
direct trains from Gorizia (Nova Gorica)
direct bus from Ljubljana
bus and train from Istria via Trieste
trains (resp buses) from Maribor via Bleiburg or Graz - Klagenfurt - Villach
train from Bled via NovaGorica/Gorizia (railway station change)

For the most interesting option stop off at Plitvice Lakes in Croatia (a little out of the way) or Krka Falls (less out of the way). These are amazing, stunning national sights.

I did a road trip to Croatia through Slovenia and Austria and if it helps I have a short blog article about it (link below). I didn't really stop in Slovenia but I know that there are some really interesting gorges to see, if you're into natural sights.

The most comfortable and quickest way to get from Dubrovnik to Slovenia is to take a plane
from Dubrovnik to Zagreb (there are several flights a day operated by Croatia Airlines, journey time - 40 min),
then take bus or train to Ljubljana (journey time - 2 hours) and then from Ljubljana take the bus to the coast.
This is just a suggestion - this way you will skip the travel along the Croatian coast.
