French Atlantic Coast or French Spanish Pyrenees???
I have 26 days of vacation beginning on Monday and I still don"t know where I"m going. I"ve narrowed it down to (I hope) the French Atlantic coast or the French and Spanish Pyrenees. I Plan on staying at campsites. I love the ocean and I love the mountains but don"t know what is better in this case. Where should I go? Both would be too many Km for me. I will be driving my car there from Germany. Is there anybody out there who knows his way around both the French Atlantic and The Pyrenees?Edited by: satnight

Why not go to the southwest of France (near Bayonne/Biarritz) and spend part of your time on the coast, and part driving up into the Pyrenees? The mountains start right behind the coast there. For better beaches and more camping, just cross the Adour River into the Landes department.2
When you are at the french-spanish border near Irun, you are just 250 kilometer from one of the nicest parts of Spain: Picos de Europa. In my opinion the spanish coast west from Irun is by far the most interesting part of the spanish coast. The country-side is green and the coast very rugged, with a lot of small fishing villages, where you can eat well-prepared fresh fish and the lodging in the area is relatively cheap.3
Hmm!!! So many beautiful places to visit and not enough life to do it all. Yes you are right. Picos de Europa and Costa Verde are fabulous destinations. The Cliffs along the coastline are breathtakingly beautiful. Maybe a little Atlantic around Bayonne and a little time in the mountains would be a good idea.
