Turkish Airlines - IST-ZAG

Hello Everyone!

We are two travelers taking a Turkish Airlines flight from the US landing in IST at 5:00pm and taking another Turkish Airlines flight to ZAG at 8:00pm. If we book the flights seperatly, it is much cheaper than booking the flights on one itinerary. I assume we will have to pick up our luggage then check it in again for the ZAG flight if our tickets are booked seperately?

Will we have enough time to get our luggage, through customs, etc. and make our connection?

Thank you,

Hi there. You will only find out if you have to take your luggage after you check-in your first flight by asking your airline company.Anyway 3 hours it's enough to catch the other flight if you have to take your luggage.Make sure that you book the second flight from the same airport because there are 2 airports in Istanbul.Have a nice trip.

Thank you!

If my first flight is delayed, and the flight to ZAG is on a seperate ticket (booking the connection on the same itinerary is THOUSANDS of dollars higher than booking two one-way tickets), will I have trouble changing my IST to ZAG flight? What are the change fees for Turkish Airlines?

Yes. If the tickets are booked together the airlines is responsible for getting you to you destination even providing vouchers for food and accommodations if necessary. If you book two separate flights, you lose that benefit. Check with the airlines about rebooking if the flight is missed. There is probably a rebooking fee plus you would be responsible for any additional costs for the ticket. Rebooking fees these days run about 200 USD per person.

Again try a travel agency as they may be able to book the two legs for the same prices as the two round trips.
