Volunteering

Hi guys,

I am interested in anyone's experiences with volunteering in Indonesia. I am specifically looking for nature/wildlife conservation, and definitely not one of those where you pay a huge amount just for a couple of weeks.

Thanks som much :)

If by, “paying a huge amount” you mean a payment to the NGO or Yayasan here in Indonesia for the privilege to volunteer, then you are not volunteering, and that organization is operating outside the laws of Indonesia.

I may have asked for too much then but I have volunteered before (not in SEA though) and either paid nothing at all or only for food and accomodation, and I don't see why that is not volunteering.

@ post #2:

" and I don't see why that is not volunteering."

I don't either, but post #1 didn't infer that at all.

Take a look at Friends of the National Parks in Indonesia. They operate two programs, one in Nusa Penida Island, just off Bali, and one in Kalimantan, Borneo. I haven't been to the one in Borneo but the one in Nusa Penida is very laid back, a very good cause and need help! FNPF
