Phuket and Halong Bay
Hi All,It seems to me that the carst scenery in both places is at least similar if not identical. If that's so, is there a reason to visit both? And if one is 'enough', isn't Phuket more pleasant?

Not really Phuket but PhangNga Bay and parts of Krabi that are famed for karst scenery. Reading through this forum it seems that most people feel the PhangNga/Krabi karst scenery is superior to Halong Bay. I've been to both and agree with this. I'd go to Ha Noi again but would probably not bother to visit Halong Bay a 2nd time.2
HB is pretty spectacular but if you're trying to pick one area or the other for a general holiday I'd do Phang Nga every time, if just for the far better other travel options in the region.3

Based on the scenery alone, Halong Bay is in a class of its own.The Phang Nga Bay area though, offers a tourist far more "tourist" options, once you've gone into scenery overload.

Better beaches and facilities in amongst the karst topography in Phang Nga bay and easy access to Phuket if you need a little more comfort or luxury.7
Halong Bay Too Many Tourists And Boats. . And the scenery and nature is different.Not all people regard Phuket and Krabi as that pleasant . Some find the beaches expensive and increasingly overdeveloped.
