Buying a sim card for mobile phone

I have an old Nokia and want to take it to NY next week. Will I be able to buy a pre-pay sim card there? What sort of shop sells them?

Thanks

The sim won't be a problem but you have to make sure that your Australian Nokia phone supports US mobile frequencies. Check if your phone is a quad band type. If so, it should work. If it's a tri-band type it may work. If not, it won't work in the US.

Check this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSM_frequency_bands#The_Americas

Also check the Travel Tech forum - lots of posts on this topic.

Good luck!

I bought a AT&T prepaid "GoPhone" for $25 including a $10 credit last year.
You pay $2/day for unlimited text and calling... and only on the days you actually use it.

I now put the sim into my jailbroken iPhone and use that...
and you can just buy a $10/$25 data plan for your data use as well.

look into it as an option... it may work for you...
