Baggage and Chichicastenango market

Hallo,
do anyone know of a safe place to leave our baggage when visiting the Chichi market?
I would like to avoid wandering through the crowd with a heavy backpack :)
We will arrive in the morning from Antigua and leave for Panajachel in the afternoon/evening, so unfortunately we have no hotel reservation in town.

Thanks a lot
cheers
Paolo

Lots of travelers have the same need every day. So there will be a solution of where to leave your pack. My last time there, several years ago and going in the opposite direction as you, a whole bus load of us left our stuff in the lobby of the hotel where the bus dropped us off, and picked us up later. I've wondered ever since if that was very secure or not, but everyone did it at that time. Must have been over a hundred bags/packs in that hotel lobby.

Buen viaje!

No easy answers for you. Best thing would be to arrange to leave bags in a hotel lobby behind the counter and pay for it.

It depends how you are traveling. We did this in reverse direction, left Pana in morning to visit Chici and then onto Antigua in afternoon ...... so I would assume your trip is also possible... but we went by shuttle service, not that expensive and much more time efficient. So, we could leave our bags in the shuttle van while in the market.

A friend, went from Pana to Chici .... by chicken bus, and it took them close to 3 hours .... the shuttle is about 1.25 hours for this leg alone.

Thanks for the tips, I'll ask some hotel as suggested.
@DubinNYC, we'll arrive and leave by shuttle :)

Cheers

You might try the tourist office in town. They have cheap internet access also. A hotel is your best bet.
