Rio de Janiero to Quito

Hi all.
I was just wondering if anybody had an idea about the best way of getting from Rio to Quito? I am taking a trip to Ecuador but it is much cheaper to fly from Perth to Rio so I figured I would look into transport between these cities. Thanks!

A direct flight actually always is the best which can happen to you.

Perth Australia or Perth Scotland? Somehow I don't think either would be much cheaper than a good airfare in South America.....

Hi Meganfay!

Welcome to TT!

By air. Take a look also at flights to Guayaquil and at flights out of Sao Paulo to see if they are cheaper than from Rio to Quito (and if the price difference worth the hassle).

OK so your original post was misleading.....

So you want to go to Rio in Brazil via Quito Ecuador? Correct? Then have you searched all airlines from Quito? Do you really want to go to Quito before Rio? That is do you want to go to Ecuador at all? If not look at Perth Australia to Rio Brazil flights if they are cheaper. If you still want to go to Ecuador maybe you could do it after Rio. However LAN which includes Lan Ecuador, Lan Peru and Lan Argentina etc have just merged with Brazil's largest airline so maybe you could look into options there which will include the Lan South American pass which allows cheap airfares all over South America on it and not doubt cheaper airfares to Brazil because of the new merger..... Well worth looking into no doubt.

As I'm reading it, the OP wants to go from Australia to Quito. Flights from Australia to Rio are much more cheaper than to Quito and s/he thinks it'll be overall cheaper to fly to from Australia to Rio and to take another flight from Rio to Quito.

BTW, s/he could also research other options like flying from Australia to Santiago de Chile or to Lima or to Bogotá...

Just curious, do flights from Perth to Rio fly west or east?

The easiest option if flying with Emirates changing planes in Dubai; i.e.: flying west.
