Im 2 for 2 with VA, pretty happy with my experiences, but I wouldnt count on them for a tight connection. While I was checking in to my flight, I noticed that their flight to Cancun was delayed 2 hours, on a sunny day. We didn't board our plane until 15 minutes after it was supposed to leave. I would plan a day of buffer if you were connecting.

From my airline days, I can tell you most often delays have nothing to do with weather. Like most airlines, Viva has high utilization of their aircraft and any delay during the day can trickle down and delay later flights. I would not count on them, or any airline, for a tight connection.

One weird quirk when I flew was that there was no gate assignment for the flight until 30 minutes before scheduled takeoff. The departing flight board just said "B" which was the general wing of the terminal. I had to ask a couple times to make sure I understood.

If you are talking about Mexico City, thats usually the way its done by all airlines. I think its the same in other Mexican airports as well.

Great price, good equipment and people, but I've flown them 5 or 6 times and departures have always been, late.
I would never book a connection of less than two hours and three would be better.

Does anyone know why there's no longer an option to pay at Oxxo for Viva Aerobus? I've been trying to book tickets for 2 days and it only gives the option for a card?

I tried using an ETN but they tried to charge us double the price.

I can't believe how hard it is to book a flight with them!

Any recent info would be a grand help guys! Cheers!

I used the OXXO option recently and I just checked the website and its still there. But you do have to complete a booking before the option is offered.

Yeah that's what I've been trying to do but I get to the last page and the only payment option it gives me is for a credit/debit card? I've tried on different devices and it's still been the same. I am absolutely baffled!

I've just tried again to see if it's any different but it still only offers card payments. When I cancelled the card payment the site told me to change my payment option, recommending payment in a Banamex branch, however there was no option for me to select, only card again. I've tried using a Mexican address, a UK address, and a US address to see if that was the issue but I just get the same results.

I thought it may have been because the flight is in 2 days so I went through a booking for a flight in 6 weeks time but it was still the same.

Want to book it for me? haha!

Looks like I found the issue, you have to do the booking in Pesos and it has to be more than a few days in advance.

A massive inconvenience, but I guess we should be more organised! Cheers for you feedback anyway!

Ok, glad you found the problem. I never thought about that since I only book in pesos. The OXXO payment is a good way to go and it gives you 24 hours to get to the OXXO.

Well, the flight worked out fine. There was a change in itinerary, I was notified by email a few days before. It was originally scheduled to leave at 9:10 am, but was changed to 8:50. Funny thing was that flight didn't actually leave until almost 10am. All in all it worked out well, we got to our destination on the day we wanted.

Hi,

I just booked from Tuxtla Gutierrez to Cancun for April 9. I reserved online in pesos, printed the reservation number and paid in pesos at Banamex in San Cristobal de las Casas. I got an e-mail confirming the reservation and it says you have 24 hours to pay (which I did, with a bank receipt to prove it). I'm now expecting a confirmation of the purchase.
I've just read some pretty horrific stories on TripAdvisor about cancellations and delays with Vivaaerobus, so I am nervous about how reliable they are. Our flight back to Canada is on April 10.
What is the best way to be sure our payment will be honored by the airline? And to make sure we know about delays and/or cancellations ahead of time?
We are in San Cristobal until April 9.
