Riding Panama City to San Salvador

Hi,

I'm planning on riding my touring scooter from Panama City to San Salvador first two weeks of September. A few things i would like to research on this forum are:

1. Passing across borders, am i likely to be asked to produce exit tickets from the country, even though i'm travelling on a motorbike?
2. Apart from the ownership document of the motorbike, what other documents will i need to show at the border crossings? Do i need to arrange a multi-country insurance policy in order to pass the border checkpoints?
3. My route will be from Panama City to El Limon via the Guabito border crossing between Panama & CR, then head across Northern CR to the meet the Pan Am highway at La Cruz border crossing to Nicaragua. Then Pan Am all the way to San Salvador. Does anybody have any good reason why this would not be advisable?

Thanks for your assistance in advance.

Not advisable. It will stolen as fast as a Harley at Bike Week.

What is a touring scooter? How many CC's?

You are aware the Pan Am Hwy (CA-1) is a truck clogged, cargo passing, mountain 2 lane road with few shoulders and nutty drivers?

Keep stored indoors at your lodging at night, it will be stolen otherwise.

For border formalities, check Driving the Americas and also ADV Rider or Horizons Unlimited, both for the motorcyclist. Only one guy here has rode a moto that route, Markhof....
