Ferry from Mawlamyine?
Hi all,Have been lurking on the forums for a (long) while and the info has been very much appreciated. Off to Myanmar for 28 days in a few weeks, just wondering what the chances might be of rustling up enough peeps for a private (read there was one through breeze?) ferry from Mawlamyine to Hpa an in early september? Not sure how quiet/busy it will be down south in the wet or if there are any other options recommended?
Thanks in advance

One of my most enjoyable boattrips in Myanmar: from Hpa'an to Moulmein. In 2008 I paid K 35.000 for a private boat. If sharing is what you want, Hpa'an might even be a better to look for other passengers: met more people in Hpa'an whose next stop was Moulmein than in Moulmein for Hpa'an.5
The Moulmein to Hpa An ferry is pretty much dying out now. It didn't go very often when we were there in 2010. You will certainly need to do a bit of ground work to organise this. If you can't get the ferry to go, don't despair - just make sure that you do a day tour of the countryside around Hpa An.ADVERTISEMENT
