Transportation TO Hue Airport and from Hanoi Aiport

Transportation TO Hue Airport and from Hanoi Aiport
I will fly from Hue to Hanoi (not busing after an AWFUL EXPERIENCE), what is the cheapest way to get to and from these airports?

LP mentioned the shuttle bus runs by Vietnam Airlines which im flying. ive done a quick Google search and cant find info about it.

Where do i find it, how often does it run and how much does it cost?

alternatively what would the cost of a taxi be around about?
Thank You!

Hue's Phu Bai airport is about 13 Km from the city center. To use airlines shuttle you need to ask the staff at your hotel to make arrangement for you. Taxi is most convenient and cheap, $12 dollars is normal fare. I never get cheated by taxi in Hue.

Alternatively, if you're single and not much luggage, Honda Om is fun and cheap too.

The pre-arranged price from Nội Bài Airport to old-town Hanoi is only about $9 but if you go by the meter, you may get an leisurely tour of suburban north-central Vietnam for anything up to about $25.

The Vietnam Airlines shuttle is intended mostly for Vietnam Airlines employees and runs hourly or so. They charged me $2 but I got the strong impression that was the special white-guy price.

That price isn't so special malvolio....they charged everyone $2 - even the Vietnamese - when I caught that bus into town.

Really? Wow, $4 to commute to a job that pays, what, $10 or $20. And that bus was jammed.

I think Norm was referring to people who were not workers of VN airlines, the workers I would say get to travel free.

Malvolio - the Vietnam Airlines Shuttle is not intended mainly for Vietnam Airlines employees...get your facts right!

In March we took a taxi from Hue to the airport. It was a taxi in front of the hotel and it cost us 200K Vnd.

In Hanoi the hotel we were staying at sent a taxi to the airport for us and Charge us $15/US

Hope this helps

On a recent trip, I took a taxi from Noi Bai Airport to Hanoi Old Quarter, and the driver wanted VND450K and I managed to bargain down to VND350K.

On the return trip to the airport from the Old Qtr, my hotel arranged a private car transfer at VND250K.

Why not catch the train. You go from one city to the centre of another and sleep for most of the overnight journey.
The shuttle bus from Hanoimairport is very slow, going all around the place dropping people off and finishing up at the airline office, not far from the lake. Last time I got it it was $2. It seems to be harder to get a seat from the airport than it is to the airport.

Perhaps "intent" is the wrong word. The one time I took the shuttle, mine was the only white face aboard, and I was the only person with luggage. Most of the passengers were wearing Vietnam Airlines name-tags or uniforms.

I think Norm was referring to people who were not workers of VN airlines, the workers I would say get to travel free.

Ah, that would explain it. Well, it would explain why there were a lot of Vietnam Airlines employees; why there was no one else I guess will have to be ascribed to the torpidity of a government-owned airline.

The best cheapest way is the night train soft sleeper. This said, I took one day the LAST flight (I think it was at 22:00) on VN and I paid peanuts
