While that may be true, some travellers who are looking for a more communal living feeling prefer dormitories over private rooms in guest houses. I'm guessing that is why some people choose dorm-style accommodation over anything else.

what sort of accommodation did you go for?

I never stay in hostels ... guest houses. private bathrooms. tv. fridge. aircon. at a minimum.

restaurants, street food - both.

Fact: you will not manage on 450B a day, period. Oh sure, we can sit here and debate it all night, and lots of people will show how it's possible. Who cares what's possible in theory. The reality is you will not survive on that amount. It's as simple as that.

Not sure why people care about the price of beer at 7-11. When your friends are all going out for dinner and drinks what do you say? No thanks, I prefer to buy my beer at 7-11 and drink alone in my room. Anyway, on 450B you can't afford beer from 7-11 either. You can't afford anything. See how that works? So once again in case you missed it - you will not be surviving on 450B a day in Thailand. You can take that to the bank.

I think that was the general conclusion on page 2...

After room costs, breakfast and lunch your 450 baht will be done and dusted so you'd be sitting/walking around all afternoon and night wishing you could buy dinner or a beer like other people.

I will probably have about 450 Baht per day
Your user name is appropriate, as you will need to sleep under one to have enough money for food and transport etc!

mozziebite hit the nail on the head, look at the foreign panhandlers
In BBK .A
450 is no fun because people like this

But move that up to 700 per day if you cut down on the time or save some more money. could be done

I personally know people doing this but they are long stays
yes the have it hard but they are happy..

In the end they are filling some sort of void in the life some make it most others do not...

Would I want to try NW

Should You No.......

Think of friends and family that could have the job of looking for you if you go of the deep end.

INSURANCE if you are worrying about funds i am 99.9 % sure y0u will not deal with it..

Stay home and watch The beach save some money and go for it a little later.

Don't be so cheap.

You expect 40,000 baht to last you 3 months for 2 people? That's a little over $1,000 for the 2 of you.

#40 Read the rest of the thread. There is a quite definite, concrete conclusion. That conclusion has been established for 2 days.

I get the feeling that my intentions may have gone over some heads. Not being serious chaps, just illustrating a point.
