Transportation: Begern to Eidfjord to Stavanger
Hi,I'm planning on going to Eidfjord this summer, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to get to and from there via public transportation, being somewhat cost-conscious. I'll be traveling there from Bergen, and going to Stavanger after.
I would like to take the bus/ferry connection between Bergen and Eidfjord, connecting in Norheimsund, which I've seen multiple people recommend as a way to travel between the two places. Can anyone tell me where I can actually book this route? (I've looked at the Norway in a Nutshell website, which doesn't appear to allow booking only that portion of the journey, and I've also looked at the Tide website, which took me to a Hardangerfjord sightseeing option on NORLED that somehow didn't include either Norheimsund or Eidfjord)
In traveling from Eidfjord to Stavanger, it seems like the best way to get there would be by bus, but I can't tell what the best route would be or which bus line I should be booking on. Any suggestions on bussing, or another way you think I should get there?
Thank you so much!

The bus/express ferry option leaves 7:30 in the morning from Bergen bus terminal.http://www.tidefjordcruise.no/index.cfm?id=343279 (norwegian with timetable)
http://www.tidefjordcruise.no/langSwitch.cfm?lang=2 (english, little info)
The bus to Norheimsund is a regular bus service shared with locals, they might do a minimal detour for a quick little look at the Steinsdalfossen waterfall, but that's about it. For the boat (and combined tour) I guess you can book through norled, but they do post different emails at the norwegian version and the english version, booking@norled.no and fjord@norled.no respectively.
In my opinion I don't believe it's necessary to prebook this trip, but maybe if you hit the same departure as a larger group of travellers it might be troublesome. Why not send some emails and ask? :)
Price is 129,- for the bus plus 280,- for the ferry.
There are 4 other alternatives for public transport between Bergen and Eidfjord. Just ask med here if you want more details.
From Eidfjord to Stavanger you're in for a long ride.
1. Eidfjord to Odda - local bus
2. Odda to Seljestad - local bus
3. Seljestad - Haugesund - regional bus
4. Haugesund - Stavanger - regional bus or express ferry.
These are all regular services and there are no need to prebook. But departures are few, 1 - 3 every day.
I would guess this all would end up at 500,- plus.
Another option is actually to go back to Bergen and go by regional bus, express ferry or by plane. (Just ask if you want more info on these options.

Thanks Eirik! I've got the travel portion to Eidfjord figured out; still working on getting to Stavanger. We've only allowed one day for travel between Eidfjord and Stavanger, and so I'm wondering if the departures on the bus itinerary you've laid out line up so that the journey can be completed in one day. Is there a website where I can look at the bus departure schedules? I've found the NOR-WAY website, which could work for the Haugesund-Stavanger leg of the journey. My other thought is to take travel back to Bergen via bus (trying to arrive in Bergen earlier than the tour ferry/bus that gets in at 5:30 PM) to then take a NOR-WAY bus to Stavanger.Thank you for your help!

Besides I`m wondering what is the best way to get from Eidfjord to Trolltunga. As I have found out from Internet I should take the 991 bus from Eidfjord to Tyssedal and then probably hitch-hike the car to Skjeggedal where the cableway is situated???ADVERTISEMENT
