Accomodations in Gisenyi
I've done a search, but haven't found anything recent. Mid August I'm heading to Rwanda, and I have an extra day between my gorilla trek and my departure for Tanzania, so I thought about spending it in Gisenyi. Any tips on places to stay? I'd like to keep it on the budget to mid-range (preferably under $100USD a night) but I'm not stuck on that. Many thanks for any help!

Paradis Malahide, on the Rubona peninsula about 7 km outside of Gisenyi is a favourite amoung tourists and expats. A lot of people go there, but I didn't, so I can't say...I can only vouch for the shoestring option, Auberge de Gisenyi, on Boulevard de l'Umuganda (it's featured both in Bradt and LP guides). Rooms are small but clean, no hot water, helpful staff. There's a bar nearby, and a restaurant right in front of the rooms, so earplugs could be useful. It is not in a very nice part of town, but only a 5-minute walk from the beach and very close to the market.

I agree with the above recommendations for Rubona it is much more pleasant than Gisenyi and the hotel is very nice. If you are taking the mini bus rather than taxi make sure you tell the driver where you re staying as otherwise if you just ask for Rubona you will be dropped a long way from the hotel (2+klms)5
The Inzu Lodge is not finished. It has a very nice and opened restaurant. Apart from that there were two bigger tents almost finished in Mid-July. Either you sleep in there (if they are ready for that by now) or you bring your own tent. But Inzu has a quiet steep terrain. Will not be easy to find a flat campsite. And Inzu has no access to the lake.My guess would be Paradise as well. Nice staff, nice restaurant and an own beach. But book in advance!!
